CDR Operators

•Crash Data Retrieval System Operators Course

This 8-hour course of instruction is the entry-level class for those new to the Bosch Crash Data Retrieval System. Ideally this training should be completed before using the CDR System for the first time. The basics of operation will be covered including: determining if the subject vehicle is CDR supported, selecting the appropriate method of connection to safely image the data, loading and operating the CDR software application, saving the imaged data and creation of reports for later use.

Individual course topics include:

  • CDR System components and minimum computer system requirements
  • Installation / configuration of the CDR software
  • Determining if subject vehicle is a CDR supported vehicle and which electronic modules may be accessed by the CDR system
  • Selecting the best method of access, through in vehicle (DLC) connection, direct to module (on vehicle) and bench-top (out of vehicle) access
  • CDR System components including DLC cables, direct to module cables and add-on adapters that may be required for specific vehicles and to assemble for use
  • Software operation including step-by-step guides and nuances
  • Trouble-shooting steps for common error messages
  • Trouble-shooting on-vehicle connections including “back-powering” through the fuse box basics and available tools
  • Saving CDR imaged data for later use
  • Report generation
  • Basic awareness of legal issues surrounding access

This class is day one of the complete CDR System Operation, Analysis and Applications Series and is available to attend as part of a 5-day complete series, or as an individual class for those requiring only training in the proper imaging techniques.
